I don't want to stir the pot but all Mark wanted was someone who could price some AF trains his neighbor had.  S gaugers are always recruiting !!  We know what they are and can and cannot do.

Jim is right, I am just looking for someone to help my wife's friend dispose of the AF trains to someone who can appreciate them, but give her a reasonable amount of cash in return.

Gary and Ray, As for S Gauge, yes it does look appealing when I try to plan for all I want to run in a small amount of space.  I am no stranger to changing scales, as I stated.  I have had HO, then N, then HO again, and finally O 3-rail, with a dabble into HOn3 and On30 thrown in for fun.  However, I have a nice collection of O gauge now, and don't have the space to run S as well.  I'm an operator not a collector.

However, one never knows.  The first toy trains I saw were my uncle's American Flyer trains as I was a pre-schooler.  He moved away when I was 5, and I didn't see them after.  I could end up going full circle to what he had.  ???????????

Thank you for the kind words, greatly appreciated. I keep my A.C. Gilbert Trains in the attic.  We live an a old house with a walk in attic.  This year when I go up to get the Christmas Tree and lights, I am going to look for my share of my boyhood American Flyer Trains.  I will post photos of them on this tread and hit you up with an e-mail.

Thank you for the offer.  I will see if I can.  I have seen both layouts several times.  I love watching the guys who encourage the kids to participate with the accessories and the kids reactions!

I usually assist with the high-rail layout, it is fun for the kids to operate the log loader, coal loader and all the other operating accessories that the layout offers. The club members that put it together did an outstanding job. If you make it to Kings, the coffee and pie are on me.

I sure appreciate that!  Unfortunately, I had to get my car towed to the garage today.  I doubt they will get a chance to do any more than take a quick assessment tomorrow, so I probably won't have wheels!  Ugh!!  Like my dad always said, "I am always very thankful when the car breaks down in my driveway."  I can't gripe; the car is 13 years old.

If you would mention it to the group, and I can scan the list and send it to someone, or get with Jon.  I still need to get with my wife's friend to let her know this old dog is onto a scent now!

My garage service manager often apologizes for having to charge what he does.  I tell him, since I am always bringing old cars in for him to fix, I expect it will cost a bit.  I think it is a starter, and not in the engine.  I just can't do much work on cars any more, but he treats me well.
