I am looking for ideas for detailing the new 21" Lionel CSX Technical Research Car. The car is part of the 4-pack of the CSX Executive Train.
The blue interior needed a contrasting paint for the seats to highlight the interior. I tried gray, but found the tan I use on practically every road name worked well. I am not a fanatic on correct colors in the passenger cars. It is odd that the most public railroad interior, the passenger car, has so few pictures to guide us in painting these cars.
I was initially disappointed that the interior was without any technical desks or equipment. The seats are overly large and dwarf the Preiser 65602 People I paint for the cars. I was able to turn the coach seating into a classroom, and have plans for making desks and small laptops for the chairs. The front of the coach has a dry-erase board and a television monitor on the front walls.
If you have any other ideas, please share them. I will put men in the cars that could be used for a work train. The women and children will go in the cars that would be included on an excursion train. None of the figures pictured have been glued in place. They are for thinking out the car design.
Sincerely, John Rowlen
