Morning Everyone, I took my Lionel SP Sunset LTD cars out of the boxes for the very first time this morning and was putting them on the display shelf when my wife picked something up and asked me what it was.  It turned out to be one of the windows from the chair car, it had fallen off while I was holding it trying to get the tie wires that were holding the trucks together.  Didn't notice that it had gone AWOL.  Any suggestions as to what would be the best type of glue to put this back on with?  I can see a tiny glue dot on the window frame of the car and I agree with the size of the dot just not sure what would be the best adhesive to use.  I was thinking of maybe canopy glue like the use for the model airplane kits, it dries to a clear finish but I don't happen to have any.

Your thoughts and suggestions will be greatly appreciated.  Thanks and have a great Thursday.

Clear Scotch tape. While you have the car apart, you could place some shades in a few or all the windows.  If you are not taking the car apart, Aleene's glue or any hobby glue will do, use a dental pick or tooth pick to place micro-bits of glue where you desire.    John in Lansing, ILL

I like Micro Mark's PSA glue. Comes out of the bottle like Elmers White glue. You can apply it with a small brush. The trick is to let it dry. Sometimes up to 20 minutes. It then gets very tacky. When you place the window glazing    on it. Nothing oozes out. I recently  did all new glazing on an MTH passenger car repaint. Not a cheap glue. But it works as advertised.

MartyE, I'll see if I can get it from either Mega Hobbies or Sprue Brothers, I may even look at my #1 Candy Store, Amazon.  I'm pretty sure Sprue Bros has it, I just need to look for it.  They are a huge model airplane dealer, good guys to deal with if you happen to build airplane kits. .  MartyF, I noticed on the car where the window came out of, these are put on from the outside, there was a glue dot down by the lower right corner as you are looking at the car.  These windows give the impression that there is weather stripping around the window and that is probably the reason why the windows are put on from the outside, they look really nice.

Thanks again to everyone who responded, I really appreciate it.   Have a great weekend.

Have to admit, I had never heard of "canopy glue" before.

Would it also work to hold figures in place, like museum putty ?

There are a lot of choices here. Personally, I use Testors "Clear Parts Cement and Window Maker". I used it exclusively in building a 1/4 scale "Visable 426 Hemi" years ago and it hasn't fallen apart yet. Still, whether you use this or any of the other glues like it (i.e. Canopy Glue) mentioned here, they DO NOT fog the clear parts!!!

One other thing that I like about the Testor's glue is that it had a fine tube to apply it with.
