For those of you who don't follow everything on this forum, I thought that I would post this about jewels for locomotive class lights and caboose marker lights.
Pat, of HARMONYARDS, has found bags of jewels that are apparently very inexpensive and has used them to make illuminated locomotive class lights.
That got me to thinking...

For those of you who do not want to dabble in actually lighting your markers, stores such as Joann's, Michaels, Hobby Lobby have stick on jewels as shown below (clear ones are also available). You can find them in varying sizes in the "bejeweling" section of the stores.
Locomotive class lights should show the same color to the front and side, either green or white and no other color. Caboose marker displays vary according what RR you choose. On the N&W, which I am familiar with, of the four bezels, one red shows to the rear while the rest are yellow. The green and red ones could also be used as switch indicators in yards.
Let your imagination run wild!

According to the PRR Employee Timetable books, a Locomotive running Light in Reverse was required to show a red light or flag depending on era.     So there are occasions when something other than white or green was needed, although they would be rare for steamers and cab units.

The PRR had "Marker lights" down on the pilot deck in order to comply with those instructions. "Class lights" were up on top as shown.
