Do you know if it`s Lighted.?.. Thanks.
Lets hope for some Engines in this Tinplate MARKLIN Series..
Just got off the phone with Charlie and put my order in for this splendid reproduction of a classic Marklin station!
Ordered mine "in deutscher Sprache".
These will definitely be made to order!
Is there any information on the Size of the Station.?..
Don't know the size.
I'm going to have to get my pre-order in. Thanks for the heads-up.
John.
Size and price, please.
Thanks.
Bob
Bob, size I can't tell you yet. Price 999.99
Still waiting on size. MTH has plans to make the matching covered platforms and terminals for it.
Here is a link to a picture of the complete station
It should be noted that the station in the flickr photo is a gauge 1 version and shows an additional curved waiting hall that was a separate accessory from the Leipzig station. Also I believe the version Mike is making will be the gauge 0 version (not as tall and round cupola instead on square on the top center roof). I believe the gauge 0 version originally came with two of the halls. I am not sure if the gauge 0 version had the side walls available or if they were only for the gauge 1 version. I can check catalogs when I am at home.
Okay, I checked the catalogs and the gauge 0 station was available as just the building or in a complete through station with 2 waiting platforms, an outside wall and the filler panels that went between the walls and roofs to completely cover the overhead. (there were also some brackets that held the wall and platforms at the proper spacing. If you wanted to make a terminal type station I believe the second wall was purchased as an add on.

Will MTH please post a photo of THEIR production model? THANKS!
Andy is working on it Art. The production sample just got back from Germany
Charlie:
THANKS!
Found some photos of the MTH prototype on MTH Facebook!
Thanks for the order Art!
For those interested Märklin 1921 catalog has the dimensions as 92 cm l x 43 cm d x 36 cm h. English dim. ~36¼" x 17" x 14¼". The two passenger sheds behind the station adds another 20½" in depth. Hope you have a lot of vacant land to add this station to your layout.

Does anyone know why the original station from the 1910's and 20's was so rare. Was it just not purchased by that many customers who could afford it?
Ron:
THANKS for the dimensions - mine will NOT be on the layout but instead a display work of tinplate ART!
It is big but IMO, what a show piece!
Will need some period European vehicles (Dinky Toys?) and some figures!
Purchased some 1930's Mercedes models in 1:43 scale for the station: a touring car and a deluxe sports car! Need some trucks next.
Dinky's were always my choice.
Has MTH announced the official dimensions for the Leipzig Station?
Here is the new catalog
July 1, 2014 - M.T.H. Electric Trains has signed a licensing agreement with Marklin to reproduce and distribute one of their famous pre-war stations, the Leipzig Big City Station. Slated for production later this Fall, the all-metal recreation will arrive on retailer shelves by year's end in three different versions; English, German and French. Each version will sport appropriately lettered signage on the station's walls in English, German or French lettering.
The brochure can be viewed online by clicking HERE.
If desired, you can also view the brochure in German or French by clicking on the links below.
M.T.H. Authorized Retailers will begin receiving their in-store counter copies of the English brochure in two weeks. The brochure also includes the Tinplate Traditions Leland Detroit Monorail Sets announced earlier this month.
M.T.H. tinplate mailing list subscribers will begin receiving their printed copies in mid July
Absolute work of art!
Thanks for the order Art!
