The original station was outside of Renfrew, Pa. south of Butler, Pa. It was an oil boom town in the 1880s and quite the place. Had two railroads and an interurban line. A duplicate of this building is at the Pa. Trolley Museum near Washington, Pa. Would make a nice kitbash.

Mars?
Yes !! Didn't you hear that Martians landed here in western Pa. and founded a colony ?
Ah yes, I know the rebuilt station well. Right next to the refurbished B&O station.
Yes, Mars Pennsylvania. My old stomping grounds. I am a graduate of Mars High School, class of '74. I'm also a graduate of Robert Morris Univ, in Moon Township, Pennsylvania. I was educated in Mars and Moon! You come to your own conclusions. ;-)
Back to Jim's photos. Yes it would be a really nice little scratch building project. I have a couple of photos of it myself. Hopefully I will get my scratch building skills back after 2 surgeries on each hand, a broken hand, and arthritis. Right now I appreciate the built up structures, whereas I thought they were a cop out 25 years ago and more, when I used to scratch build and kit bash.
Thank you for the photos, Jim!

Well, that explains a LOT about "people" around here...

Cool
Do all the street lights rotate?
Are Hersey candies banned?
Does Bugs Bunny's Martian friend have a home here?
Is everything red?
Steamer,
You got the right place!
Dominic,
Being a graduate of Mars High School, and still living nearby I will tell you that the mayor, who I knew in high school, is putting in new street lights, and I know some residents told him they are great but some need some adjustment. To what the adjustments refer to, let your imagination run wild! We did have a kid dressed up as a Martian with a ray gun for a mascot. Oh yes, our teams were called The Planets, now they are the Fighting Planets. (Can you imagine)
Mars is on the CSX, former B&O Pittsburgh and Western Division (subdivision, I'm not sure). Growing up in the '60s I watched a parade of freight trains pulled by dark blue F-units. I missed the Mallets by just a few years. Today, since CXS bought the P&LE water level route, the old B&O P&W is now single track and serves local freight.
everything except for the little green men!
Mars Boro has always had an identity issue !!
Have Canals?
Explosions?
Special radio program........?

When my kid's high school would play Mars I would go to some of the games and I was always impressed with the attractive Mars cheerleaders. No canals but a creek nearby, no explosions either. They have the Mars National Bank which I have patronized for many years. The old P&W main line that was later B&O is used by the Allegheny Valley now.
The name of the creek is Breakneck Crick.
