I picked up some Fleishman H0 tin litho Great Northern streamline passenger cars a while back, but needed some motive power. Picked up a Marx H0 smoking Hudson that had been painted all silver. Perfect candidate for my project. I still need to clean up the coaches, but the locomotive is ready and waiting.

I have a couple of these because a) they're Marx and, b) they're NYC Hudsons. I don't

do HO, but one is on display on my "tiny scale NYC Hudsons" shelf. This shelf contains NYC

Hudsons in N, TT, HO and S scales. I also have WAY too many of these in scale O...

I would like one in Z, but those all seem to cost $600 - and the others were bargain-priced.

Anyway, Marx did an excellent job - much better than AF HO did - of capturing the look, feel and proportions of a Central Hudson. The details are minimal, but that's OK. I wish

that Marx had "enlarged" the same tooling to an O or Traditional-O size, with the same simplistic detailing and good proportions, and offered it to the O-gauge crowd.

The most amusing feature of this Marx Hudson are the EMD Blomberg diesel trucks on

the tender, instead of 3-axle Commonwealth tender trucks. They look right...at first.

Right size, but wait, no! So Marx.
