McCoy #12 Camden Station Trolley

I am away from my trains and other resources for a couple of weeks... when I get back after Feb 1st I can send you some pictures.

The trolley frames and motor plates were die-cast and disintegrated from zinc pest.  For a while you could send them to Bob McCoy Jr and he would rebuild them, using stamped steel parts instead of die-cast, but the last time I had one to rebuild, I talked to Bonnie and she said they aren't really doing that any more.  A Pride Lines motor with frame would also fit, but Frank Davanzo says they do not have any more, cleaned out the warehouse.

I have mounted MTH trolley motor trucks under McCoy trolleys: hard to find individually but you can buy an MTH Pay-as-you-enter #8 or #9 trolley and scavenge the motors. They do not have the same decorative mounting side frames, the motor is mounted in a #10-series truck frame, so it has a shorter wheel-base, but it works.

Also, I make Standard Gauge under-floor power trucks using G-Scale motor blocks, re-wiring them and modifying them with SG wheels and a center rail roller pick-up. I have successfully put these under many trolleys. The two axles are a little further apart than on the MTH trolley truck.

When I get home in a couple of weeks I can send you a few pictures and you can judge whether these solutions are anything you might be interested in doing.

Thank you for contacting me with this information.I will look forward to seeing what it is you have in mind. I have seen a few of your videos in regards to trolleys and rail buses, I have enjoyed them quite a lot and they have given me some ideas. I have two projects on the back burners as I type this. I was thinking since the motor frame is shot, why not take it apart and build my own. I'm still thinking about doing that. I was just hopping that someone had a replacement motor that would make my life a little easier.

I too have made my own  trolley/MU train in standard gauge. back in 2012 I started tinkering around with an old standard gauge Lionel passenger car a got at York. I did not own any standard gauge at the time, and now its my passion. Two steam engines, an AF box cab, a pay as you enter trolley, the McCoy summer trolley, and a rail bus project later, I think I've entered the standard gauge game. I have 5 videos up on youtube showing off my live catenary system I made for my MU train. It's a simple circle on a 4x4 to see if what I had envisioned would work. And it did.  If you have the time I would like it if you could take a look at them, let me know what you think. For the power truck on the MU car I did use a MTH motor and frame from a pay as you enter trolley. I have mixed emotions on its performance.
