For another perspective, taking into consideration the state populations, the West, specifically the Northwest has a solid OGR representation.  The lower representations come from the South with Georgia as an exception.  It appears CA, TX, and FL are in need of some O Gauge hobby campaigning!

...and yes, I need something better to do on a Friday night.

A good bit of Texas is no basements also. A few years ago I was visiting my brother in Austin TX. I know Austin is a huge city so I figured I would visit some train shops while there. Could not find any. I was surprised.

Since I live in Pennsylvania I guess I'm spoiled. there are quite a few O gauge train shops within easy driving range.

Austin is the closest "big" city to us.  Sadly it remains provincial while it grows rapidly and continues to lose its provincial charm.  Kings Hobby is pretty good for the smaller scales and building supplies, but just about useless for O.  "We can order it for you."  Well, I can order it myself for less.

The Hobbytown USA franchise (2 locations, same franchisee) has a smidge of Lionel, but that's about it.  They're pretty good for RC cars, RC planes, and RC helos and multicopters, though.

I agree it must be the member who builds yachts.

I highly doubt the actual manufacturers have any care as to what is on this forum.  They have no reason to care.  The importers, yes, but not the actual manufacturers in China (or anywhere else).  Their cares are a level removed from the actual end-item customers (us).

The importers place an order and the manufacturing companies get paid for producing it.  It doesn't matter from their perspective what we think of the product.  The bulk orders still come in, so in the big picture, enough money is coming their way where they still will bother with making trains.

Seems we have 285 members here in Maryland.  Not bad for a little state!

I think that the number of people on at one time is also interesting.  At this time, there are 1,200 folks currently on line (287 logged in and 913 guests)!

Jim

Yep, a nice showing from the Old Line State.

We're small but home to -- among others -- the B&O Railroad Museum and the Western Maryland Scenic Railroad.

And The NATTY BOH boxcar!

AZ is another basement light state.  I didn't know basements were a requirement for trains.  That means I've been doing it all wrong and I can't build a layout.

Basements are where they are because they have to build deep to get below the freeze level.  Therefore you could say that it isn't basements, but cold weather that causes trains.

Thanks people. No wonder I've lost interest in this forum.

Obviously you don't know how to use that map! The map for North America plainly shows 101 for Canada. Alaska is also shown on that same map. I'm surprised that you found Poland.

As long as it's an opt-in and not an opt-out feature that would be cool.

I can already search for and view your profile (based on information you voluntarily provided).  I just can't click on a map to see everyone from Colorado.
