Those are some great deals.
$16.50 per boxcar is a pretty good deal. So how much does it cost to manufacture, assemble, and ship a non-scale boxcar ?
Do you get just train sale emails from menards or is it a weekly ad you have to muddle through? I have signed up, but didn't see where you can customize your preferences...

This is beginning to look like an overstock blowout.

Mike A, we "O people" thank you for your posting. Many here are trying to digest the 24 flat cars they purchased in one sale, along with the box cab Isuzus; and, along comes another sale.
$108 for 6 SRR box cars delivered to my door!!! A good deal from what I have seen of the cars. Just don't need any more freight cars....but......

I don't think so since the boxcars were $19.95 each when first issued about 6 months ago So by buying a 6 pack, Menards is knocking off $3.50 per boxcar. Some how Menards can get these guys manufactured, assembled, and shipped at rock bottom pricing.

Its not that Menards gets their boxcars made at rock bottom prices, they are just content to make a smaller profit rather than a larger one. These are toys made in China that are cheap to produce.
Most O scale 3 rail products are sold at a 'price the market will bear' meaning at the highest price people will still buy. As I've said a number of times before.......a few years ago when I asked why we were able to buy highly detailed die cast metal 1/24 scale model cars were $9 but a box car with 1/3 the parts and half the weight was $55???? I was bashed pretty well for asking.....seem Menards has answered......

I'm still wondering why nobody's posted pictures of the 24-flatcar pack.
I almost pulled the trigger when they were on sale. If they go on sale again, I might be tempted anew, just for the challenge of making the whole set behave itself.

When I was in Menards last week they had the flatcars, after rebate $4.99 each. They had 3 trays of them, 24 per tray. I just bought 3 flatcars to mess around with, a C&NW, BN, and Milwaukee.
