Menard's, I'm gonna run out of money! Unfortunately, I am Looking for 50s-60s Trucks and Cars for Loads in the future. But this is a nice deal, no other company will beat this deal.
Whew! Escaped the pressure... they are newer cars.

I assume you are talking about Toyota. Of the Menards cars listed in the ad, only Toyota has most of its cars considered as manufactured in the U.S. per the 75% rule.
Way too new for me. I mostly buy 1930's-1950's, nothing newer than 1965 except for models of cars I've owned.

Perfectly prototypical for the modern era!!!
That is one seriously great deal!
Howdy All,
I figured that if you live close to a Menards shipping to the store is FREE. Then I allowed 8% tax (that's what it is here in beautiful Cuyahoga County, OH) and divided 16 into that amount and the total is less than $2.65 per vehicle (the real figure is $2.6375 ea.). That's what I call a SMOKIN' DEAL!!!! The closest Menards to me is Massillon, OH, so I would have them shipped to my house instead of picking them up. The word on the street is that there's gonna be a Menards built in Brooklyn, OH (about 20 minutes from my house) where the Super K (as in K-Mart) used to be. They have leveled the old building and they say it should be built either late 2015 or early 2016. I'll be gettin' me a Menard's Credit card for sure!

It will be interesting to see how close to 1:48 scale these are.
It will also be interesting to see what additional "series" of vehicles Menards introduces.
For Menards to sell the autos at that price they must have negotiated one heck of a wholesale price with the manufacture. Menards retail pricing for their freight cars and autos certainly helps the ole wallet.

Yep, too new for me as well. But what a deal! Keep 'em coming!
I wonder what the next edition of the series is going to be? As others have stated, the cars that are currently offered are too new and only one American. Hopefully, they will offer something in the 50's era. Anyway, the pricing is fantastic.
Finally! Something to put into the new Lionel autoracks! Although you wouldn't want to mix up Toyotas and BMW's in the same auto carrier. They should be loaded up with one car brand at the factory.
For those who need to add vehicles to their layout, this is a very inexpensive way to do it. Nice job, Menards.
Way too modern, but it is great that Menard's is making an effort to fill holes left by
the merging and ending of some of the hobby icons. With many of us stuck with 1/43rd vehicle models from other sources, if these are actual 1/48th, it is kind of a
two-edged sword. Menard's might get with that Canadian mfr. of HO cars of the '40's
and '50's, get them to blow up their models, and really fill some gaps. Either scale
is better than the big ZERO we now have.
Great deal but also too modern for my train era.
Martin, I agree on the single brand per carrier for modeling. But passed one yesterday with both Jeeps and Small Fords on it. Once I noted the Jeeps I had expected to see Dodges not Fords. Go figure..

A great offer Menards but I'm a 50s car guy.
This is a great deal and very exciting because of they're being 1:48 scale. I will wait and hope that they have my era cars next.

Wow, another great deal!!! Not surprising, I think I heard somewhere that you, "Save Big Money, Save Big Money When You Shop Menards."
Please, please, please make vehicles from the 20's through the 50's. BigRail
If they don't go with the layout, for $2 a piece I can let my grandson's play with them.
Another great Menards deal, and 1:48 scale to boot! However, I am hoping for some 1940s to 1960s cars, and no convertibles.
Just saw that in my email before coming here, I am going to order a set. Since there are several of the same kind, I'll split the set with my grandson. That is a deal.
Mark the Menards train guy, thanks for posting the official announcement--much better than the link I started this thread with.
Great stocking stuffers for the grandkids and great nieces and nephews.

Carl,
I believe the opposite to be true. Your post was much more significant than mine because you were the first to tell everyone about the promotion and I appreciate it!
Thanks!

Hi Everyone,
I just wanted to preemptively inform everyone of a small issue I noticed with these cars. Some models are marked "1/43" on the underside. I want to tell everyone, that this is absolutely incorrect. I have personally taken the measurements on these and I assure you that they are true 1/48 scale. Please let me know if anyone has questions.
Thank you,
Mark the Menards Train Guy
Are there any plan in the future to do "vintage" cars? I'd love to see some 40's, 50's, and 60's, for instance. I love the price, just can't use really modern cars right now.
Mark, thanks for the clarification on the "scale" issue.
And I'm sure you've read the comments here and elsewhere requesting older era autos and trucks--we have hope those will be coming soon.
Vintage sounds like the way to go. I'm sure you guys will see some older models down the road but not at this time.

Well, I guess that settles it. You ordered a whole 16 car set, so none of our opinions matter. Must be nice to be so important that only your opinion matters.
MartinH, glad to see you have autos for the scale auto transports, and that you will support Menards meaningfully.
grj, Menards will get to us who want older era vehicles.
I'm grateful that Menards is offering these very affordable products and will continue to do so--patience pilgrim.
Yes, I love the price and the fact these cars of 1:48, however, I echo some other folks on this thread in hoping Menards will produce some vintage autos from the 40s - 60s. That basically where my layout is ensconced in time. And it would be nice, if and when Menards offers vintage autos, to have lots of hardtops. Seems there are lots of vintage convertibles on the market already ..... its a good thing that Patburg is a fair weather town.... all the drivers keep their tops down at least for now.
