For the holidays I received the Menards Bowling Alley. After deciding where to place this neat building on my layout, I noticed that there was a minor flaw, the ‘58 Fury’s headlights and bumper were tilted downward. Since I had already opened the packaging, I felt it would be better to fix the issue.
I thought this was an issue only with the one I received, but after doing this fix, and while at a Menards store, I noticed that this is the case for other buildings being offered for sale. The pictures attached show the store inventory, and the finished fix on my example. The following is what I did to quickly make this car look as good as it should.
The fix was to first remove the outer of the two screws that hold the car to the base, and loosen the other so as to not cause any issues with the wiring. There is a picture noting the underside of the base. I was then able to remove the front bumper and grill portion with a small screwdriver. Once removed, you can see the LED lights inside the body. Not wanting to potentially damaging anything there, my plan was to scrape and file the backside of the grill. As you remove the grill, you will also see that the bumper is a separate part as well. As the grill was ready to be CA glued back, once in place, the bumper was also attached again.
Now this scene looks like it should.
