Herman's Sauerkraut Factory is a limited edition, prebuilt and prelit O Gauge building that was manufactured exclusively for MENARDS®. This building is made primarily of wood and comes complete with wooden vats, figurines, barrels and Jack the German Shepherd. Multiple LED yard lights highlight this building's intricate details, like the moss-covered bricks, and finely detailed windows and doors. Perhaps its most unique feature is the lit and animated "Herman's Genuine German Sauerkraut" sign with multiple lighting patterns. Be the first to collect this quality collectible Sauerkraut Factory. This is a collectible model, NOT a toy.

I went out and looked at this, and was surprised that the store had a lot of other of

their structures in stock, including the feed mill, the Quonset hut, hobby shop, and others.  The old HO and O kits of pickle plants I am aware of were supposedly located in Wisconsin, so I dunno if it is relevant to my modeled area.  Those wooden tanks remind me of an article I saw on an early petroleum refinery,  or I wonder if it would make into a distillery?  Will take another look at it.

Thank you,

I'm with Jimmy,  that would be fantastic!

That is a beautiful structure at an affordable price. IMO, wooden structure always look nice. Sometimes wish that my layout wasn't so populated ( 40 structures on it) but maybe we will start an addition soon. I applaud Menards for coming out with reasonably priced trains that add to a layout.

Are all of Menard's structures made of wood?

Dennis,

The majority are made of wood. We do have a couple that are made of resin too.

breezinup,  Yes, I agree it is a beautiful thing.  We would be without a lot of great foods were it not for the process of fermentation.  But, it is still the same smell, like that of rotting cabbage, which in essence, it is, albeit under a distinct, controlled process.  The taste of sauerkraut is always a joy, whether with sausage, wieners, or by itself as a side dish.  I have German citizens as friends and she makes her own, as taught by her mother.  And, it really tastes nothing like what you by in the can, much better.
