I have several Miller billboard signs but want to buy an animated sign (O'Malley's Bar) to "hang" from above the entrance on an Amerit-towne store front. The front is 1/4" thick. What is the best way to slice through the front so I can slide the O'Malley Bar male contact through the front to connect to the female connector on the other side? Not sure which bit in my Dremel kit would work best (if at all). Any suggestions? Thanks!

Jerry,
I would drill a row of overlapping holes, and then use a file to remove excess plastic and shape the slot to the proper size.

That is a great idea and easy to do! Thanks!!
I use a cutting wheel on my Dremel.
Thanks for the tip. Since I have multpile signs to put on multiple buildings I will try the different suggestions to see what works best. A little experimentation never hurt anything.
Mark,
Very well done. I may attempt it this weekend. Will let you know how it goes.
I marked where the female plug would be and drilled a hole at each end and used a cutting wheel on my dremel to remove the excess between the holes. I then built a cover box out of balsa wood and stained it to match the building. I also printed a sign to help cover the box.

Clever way to hide that connector. Looks terrific! Thanks!

Make sure you don't bend the tab on the EL lamp when you plug it in to the power supply connector. If you are hanging a right and left sign, make sure there is enough space in between the signs to allow for the connectors to plug in without bending the EL lamps.

This may not show it well, but I put a vertical "BAR" sign between two buildings. The thin sign easily fits.
These are great ideas - I have several signs to install.
Mark, I love the color of your brick theater. What did you use? Thanks Don

I agree; great brickwork colors that look very realistic. Mark please give us some insight into what colors and/or techniques used. Thanks.
Don't know if any of you guys are familiar with something called a Roto Zip?
I have a similar bit that came with my new dremel . You drill with it just like a regular bit but it's designed to cut sideways . once you punch thru it'll cut styrene like a hot knife thru butter . If you draw a line and go slow you don't need over lapping holes.
I use it all the time to cut out windows in 1/4 plywood for my buildings
This is what it looks like.
