ok first off haven't run this s-3 in months so, I power s-3 up all is ok except sounds are almost zip so turn volume wheel full up still low but move on have smoke unit off fill with smoke fluid and leave off for a few minutes meantime start to run the engine goes ok then after 3 minutes turn smoke unit on all is ok run for a few more minutes and then hits section of track and stops dead in it's tracks, it has been running same loop no changes to another loop at all.
so I power down track and then repower it try engine off no response push engine start no response? so power down track again and repower try using transformer as in conventional mode starts to work forward reverse works fine.
then try in comand mode it comes alive but wont move to legacy commands none of them sent engine remains at idle but smoke unit full on then I start getting 3 cab light blinks! think oh oh 3 clanks of death [pun intended] everything I tried nothing would clear it would not even respond to reset key!
so this is what I did powered down transformer turned off both smoke units and oddesy [sp] turned all power on again powered up s-3 it turns on so I push the reset key engine toots as it should so try running works forward and reverse hmmm so power down and one by one turn smoke units and oddesy on all is well again engine works as it should!
so who can tell me why turning those 3 items off made the difference as prior no response from s-3 of any legacy remote key pushes. why did that help but none of the reset commands would clear the error most baffling.
as to base and remote both on channel 9 batteries are good all bars showing on remote for battery condition base is receiving commands and was all the time as I tried another legacy engine and all worked as it should.
so mike reagan if your on the board can you shed some light on this gremlin or anyone else well versed in legacy engines and so on.
