Hello toy train world

It was a great day to be at the annual Milwaukee Trainfest    ...open tomorrow  well worth the trip.   If you thought the hobby was in decline,  walking around  Trainfest would convince you otherwise.  Trainfest  was filled with train people yes, but a whole lot of families and children  all admiring the beautiful  layouts.   This is one big and busy show, lots to do and see for all ages.    Huge module layouts from  "Z" to Standard gauges ..and  a 7 1/2" loop for riding   kids of all ages.

The Standard Gauge Module Association was there full force with a lovely huge layout drawing the attention of many.   Big flashy, shiny  trains, sparkle under the lights,   racing down the long straightaways.    Standard Gauge looks right at home on a big layout,  and the  engines enjoy the opportunity  to stretch a bit before going home to play catch the observation /caboose on the basement  oval.

Everyone with the Standard Gauge Module Association was very kind, allowing me to run my 1912 and knobby  18,18,&190 ( built 1910)  around the huge layout.  The 1912 held never seen such a long stretch of track during it's 106 years .

So head out to Trainfest  tomorrow to play trains and see all the wide eyed children ( future train collectors ) .

Two NYC engines waiting on the make up spurs .... made by the same company ( at least by name) only separated by 92 years in production.

The 1912 was so happy to get out and play on a big ( very big) playground

Carey,

It was great meeting you and talking to you about Standard Gauge.  I am so glad that you were able to get the chance to run your beautiful over 100 year old Standard Gauge train on the SGMA layout.  That was real neat!

Don't hesitate to bring some more trains on Sunday and run them on the SGMA layout.  And be sure to join SGMA and keep in touch with the SGMA members you met from Chicago.

We were able to see that running on our way through to the trolley barn!  What a treat! 2 hours later, when we returned from the trolley barn, we convinced Kirk and Bob to put the Lionel Commodore Vanderbilt back on. We missed it in the morning and had never seen one in person. SGMA has always been great, it is a must see at Trainfest. Thanks again Kirk, Bob and the rest of SGMA!
