Has anyone added a slide switch to a loco that didn't already have one to turn off smoke, etc?
If so, what were the electrical requirements and a source?

I bought some from Lionel, but adding a switch might be easier to mount in a round hole. The requirements are less than an amp and 20 vac or less

I have a bunch of the Lionel/MTH ones that I harvest as I do upgrades, so I haven't bought these in years.
SPDT rather than SPST?

That's the standard switch that Lionel uses, obviously in many scenarios it could be a SPST. I figured to show the Lionel "standard" style switch.

I added one to an 8633 engine by simply gluing it (with JB Weld) just below the front lamp. Quite accessible, just reach under the cow scoop and turn it on or off. It was likely from another engine - it handles the current well, probably rated at one to two amps.
