Our club has both Ogauge and Ggauge layouts. Can we run dc Ggauge and ac ogauge using the same TIU(i.e., dc into one channel and ac into another). My assumption is no but I promised a friend that I would get a definitive answer. Help appreciated 🤔

(I was told by MTH not to mix AC and DC on the same TIU.) on the Aux input of the TIU
edited for my bad memory.....
Anyone else?
I have mixed AC and DC on the same TIU in my shop. AC on fixed1 DC on Fixed2 with no problems. The TIU is RevL
Dave
You can simultaneously run AC on any TIU channel and DC on the Fixed channels of the same TIU.
This and a whole lot more about DCS is all in MTH’s “The DCS Companion 3rd Edition!" This book is available from many fine OGR advertisers and forum sponsors, or as an eBook or a printed book at MTH's web store! |

OK, then???
I must be remembering wrong again!
Maybe it was to use aux power source of the same type?
Joe,
What you might be remembering is that there's an issue if one has TIU Fixed channel #1 using DC power but has AC power into the Aux. Power port (or maybe the other way around).
Regardless, one can mix AC and DC power on TIU channels as I described above.
Thanks again Barry!
I suspect it's DC on the fixed channel(s) and AC on the aux power. I have run for some time with DC on the aux power input and AC on the fixed and variable channels, no issues there.
John,
I suspect it's DC on the fixed channel(s) and AC on the aux power.
Yes, I expect that would be correct.
