For those who keep worrying about the lack of younger people in our hobby, The Colorado Railroad Museum in Golden, Colorado is offering "Model Railroad summer camp" starting July 18th. If you live in the Denver area, you may want to look into it.

I dunno, model railroading is more of a winter-weather indoor hobby for many folks. Young people ought to be enjoying active outdoor sports in the summer, like hiking mountain trails to photograph trains at spectacular locations, or doing track work on the local tourist railway.
40+ years ago, a teenage buddy and myself hiked into a remote location in the Oregon Cascades to get pics like these.

The program is for kids in the 2nd thru 4th grade. They complain they can't pick up the hammer when we put them on the track crew !

Good job, give them a creative diversion from TV and video games ...
This a most unique summer camp idea!! Great way to grow interest in this fine hobby! Hopefully this kind of camp will catch on in other parts of the U.S. and other countries too. I wish there was a model railroad summer camp when I was a kid .... I'd have been thrilled!!!
