As stated in previous threads, I'm going to be upgrading a MTH PS1 SD70MAC to Legacy electronics. While I don't have the engine yet, I do have the electronics and so I figured I'd start finding out where all the wires will go. I'm using a Legacy Motherboard (691MB06B01) and a DCDS-J (691DCDS109) and was testing the pins of the DCDS common plug on the MB for continuity with the DCDS. I got nothing on any of the pins on both boards. Maybe I have a bad connection, not sure. Figured I'd ask for help here before I continue. Go easy on me as I've never done with before but I really want to learn about legacy electronics. Also, the boards are out of a 6-28587 PRR GP-7. Thanks for the help.

Why not just buy a Lionel SD-70 with the RCMC board system.   What you want to do can be done buy why?  How are you going to add the Lionel smoke unit?  How are you going to work with the Odyssey sensor board?  If you are unsure about what you are doing, good luck.  You are using modular board Legacy.  That is in the past.  Modern Legacy electronics with the RCMC (modern) board system is much better.  What common plug on the DCDS are you working with?  Do you have the Railsounds power board, R4LC, and Railsounds audio board?  Matt, a PS1 SD-70MAC?????

I want practice with the legacy electronics that's why I'm doing what I'm asking about here. I'll just use a Lionel smoke unit PCB from a Legacy SD70ACe (6-28281). For the sensor board, I'll get a flywheel puller and connect it. I have all the boards associated with the MB (Power, Radio and RS Card) there's a plug on the MB labeled DCDS Common that I'm working with. Yes, it's a PS1 SD70MAC. I know you like the RCMC Boards, I do too but for a project that I just want to do with electronics I have, I chose to do it this way. I could've had a bad connection to the board.

Not sure what you want to do with the sensor board.   I understand you wanting to learn the system.  Best of luck with this.

Thanks. You don't happen to have the pinouts of the DCDS-J? Or are they on the back of the board? Wouldn't part number 691M4VSC03 connect from the motor to the DCDS somewhere?
