I have an old 027 Lionel 2-6-4 Steam locomotive and  I need to find out how the wiring on the motor field should be.  Looks like one end of the wire connects to a tab on the motor field unit, wraps around the unit and then where does the end connect?   (Does not have an e-unit).  I have tried to find diagrams, but have had little success.  Hope someone can help, as I would really like to see if I can get this to run again.

The usual wiring of motors is one power wire to goes to one brush, and the other brush gets jumped to one field wire. The other field wire gets connected to the motor ground, along with the other power wire. Apply power and the motor will run in one direction. Reverse the brush wiring and the motor will run in the opposite direction. See the attachment for a schematic.
