I've been given a Flyer by Lionel SP PA-1 to repair. It's from 1981. One motor is shot. Both the field and armature are shorted/burned. The other motor is OK. Does anyone know of a source for these parts? Would original Flyer parts work?

John, I have a motor & a good " E " unit that I could sell. I think it would be best to leave the motor & truck assembly together. Is it the front or rear motor & what do you think would be a fair price ?

Try portlines.com for parts. Look for motor parts. Or try EBay.
post a photo of the motor if you can
Bob, the electronic 'e' unit works fine. The front motor runs good with it. This is the hybrid Postwar/Modern Lionel/Flyer. Postwar type Flyer Pulmores with modern electronic reverse unit. No set screws on the motor hangers and nylon worm gears in the trucks.
I'd like to fix it for the owner. It has sentimental value to him. I suggested leaving it single motored but he said he likes to pull the dummy B and A and 5 or 6 of the SP passengers cars. The B is heavy with sound stuff. I don't think a single Pulmore can handle that.
Bob, would $35-$40 sound fair? I don't know? I'm more of a Lionel guy but I do Flyer repairs for the shop. I would imagine a Flyer Postwar motor/truck assembly would work. Don't see why not.
best to buy the complete motor from Bob. I looked around but could only find an armature for now. Parts are hard to find for these early PA's
good luck
Don't the SP alcos have the double wound field type motors? If so, incompatible with any parts from postwar Gilbert unit.
John, Send me an e-mail or call Tues. night . We're not too far apart on price . bjg@embarqmail.com

Rich, I'm interested but I have to wait for a reply from Bob first.
Between you and Milan I can get the armature and field assemblies.
John, sorry lost some text for photo. This photo is from EBAY. I have purchased 3 of these from this seller. Go on eBay and search American flyer armature.
You will find this photo. The price is $21.99 plus 3.99.
