I had recently purchased a MTH Premier 2-8-0 with PS2 on ebay.  I had to change the traction tires since the ones it came with poped off after its 1st test run.  I didn't test it too much before I tore it apart and re-painted it for the Pere Marquette.  Well after it is all together and on the track it seems to run really jerky at slow speeds.  It seems that something is binding up.  I lubed up everything, and made sure that the pins on the wheels were binding the drivers.  Anywhere else I should check to see what is binding up? I have not pulled the boiler off yet but I can if I need too.

Thanks

Check the gearbox.  Remove the cover, clean out the old grease, inspect the area for cracks or foreign matter, then add new grease.

You could also remove the motor and see if the wheels turn without binding, if they still bind it could be the siderod linkage.

Check the distance between the tach reader and the flywheel.  Someone said to use a dime, if it won't fit it's too close, if it's too sloppy it's too far away (or you could actually measure the gap).
