MTH 20-98716 (Spokane Portland & Seattle Flat Car w/Log Load) - Stakes Missing

Easy.  Go to: Lowes. Menards, Home Depot, your local hardware store and buy balsa wood rods, cut to length, paint black or brownish color, glue into place....

I have the SP&S log car, stakes were included with the car.

I thought it odd that the MTH website showed stakes.

I've reached out to MTH via their Facebook page was well as their "Contact Us" page, but haven't received a reply. I doubt I will get a reply as I've reached out to them previously on other issues that remain unanswered.

I suggest you contact Midge Wilburn of MTH's parts dept. You can e-mail her at midge@mth-railking.com or call her up at 410-381-2580 ext. 516. (I've e-mailed her and she's responded as early as 7:00 a.m.) She's top-shelf and will tell you the straight scoop on getting the stakes for your car. If MTH has them in stock, she'll know and get them to you.

Thanks to Chris R; I sent an e-mail late Sun evening and when I opened my mail Mon morning there was a response from Midge!

She mentioned she replied to my "Contact Us" e-mail, but Google decided it should go to THEIR spam folder so it never downloaded to MY Inbox.

Unfortunately I'm going to have to pay for something that should have been included. Oh well, this car is important to me as I'm modeling the Inland Northwest.

They most likely were included ... but since you bought and paid for your item for a second party seller I fail to see why MTH should be responsible or have to pay for replacements.  You might try to recoup the cost from your seller but I would guess you paid an "as-is" price.

Byrdie - I agree; had I purchased directly from MTH I'm sure they would have not charged me for the stakes.

I am willing to pay for things that make my collection more authentic.

Were they by chance in a baggie taped to the plastic blister packaging in the box? 

After not finding them within the area where the car was, I carefully looked at all the sides of the styrofoam packaging and didn't see any place where they might have been taped.

There are 32 holes in the bed of the flat car so I doubt it would be a package that could be missed.
