I have a MTH 3/2 stacker board w/ no sound. I was told it had sound but engine came off the track. and now it runs but you can just about hear some strange sounds. Would you reload a sound file or replace the board. Since there are 2 boards is 1 motion and the other sound, like PS1? Whats the difference?

The top board is the interface board, It's purpose is to provide the PS2 style of connectors and pinouts. More like an adapter.
The lower is the complete PS3 board with sounds. Sounds like you might have damaged the amplifier or the board in general.
Hi, the bottom board is the microprocessor board and the audio ic is mounted on that board the audio chip is not replaceable as MTH has attempted and had no luck replacing the ic ! sometimes you can do a feature reset and then a factory reset, and the sound might return! also usually track shorts from derailments can damage these audio IC's!

If a reset doesn't fix it, consider reloading the chain and sound files.
