MTH 40-1024 Bumpers and Lionel Bumper Car | O Gauge Railroading On Line Forum

Are the 40-1024 MTH Bumpers strong enough to take the banging of a Lionel Bumper Car? I want to put an approx 30 inch strip of RealTrax with the MTH Bumpers at both ends and run an old Lionel Maintenance Bumper Car I am restoring and painting in Polar Express colors. Here's a pic of a like car. Am concerned that the MTH Bumpers won't hold up. any perceived problems? Any problems with RealTrax and Bumper Cars?? I do have a set of the old Lionel die cast Bumpers I could attach if that is an option on RealTrax..... Those WILL take the hits.

Given my druthers, I'd go with the Lionel 260 bumpers. More likely to stand up under the stress.

I agree with using the 260 bumpers. They work just fine with my bumper cars and can really take a beating.
