Hi Folks,

I've had this Big Boy for years and he only comes out during the holidays.  I was testing him out yesterday on a track I also store and he did fire up the sound effects, the DCS commander found him on the track but he would not move.   I also tried the headlights and they were unresponsive but were lit up.  Naturally I assume its a communication issue between the coal car and the engine so I shut it down multiple times and checked the connection between the two and it is secure.   Before I try to find someone to take a look are there any other tips or tricks I should try?

Had almost the same thing happen to me yesterday with my new Railking Imperial Big Boy (PS3). It had been running just fine, and all of a sudden it started stopping on slight curves, if it was running slowly. Completely shut down every time!!

Took the "wireless" drawbar off and put the multi-meter on the pins, to check for continuity. Power was coming into the drawbar from the loco pick-up rollers, but was not getting across the drawbar to the tender end on one set of pins.

Got the soldering iron out and re-flowed the solder on the suspect pin, and checked it again for continuity....all good!!

Big Boy is up and running again faultlessly.

Check the "wireless" drawbar for a faulty soldered pin connection.
