I bought this engine used years ago from another forum member and it's always run very slow. I have to turn my z1000 to 3/4 power to get a semi-acceptable speed and even pinned its not close to running off the rails, even with no consist. Not that I want to run it off the tracks, but it would be nice to get some speed with an amtrak superliner train. I dropped the trucks and made sure the grease is good and I also ran with clips on the bench to verify both motors were turning at the same speed and nothing was hanging up. All seemed good. My only conclusion is that's just how it's geared, but wanted to check if anyone else has one.

I just popped the shell and it looks like someone wired them in series. I also found the tag ends to put it back to original. Would this have been done for any reason other than personal preference? I'm aware people do this to old williams to alleviate some jackrabbit starting/stopping problems, but I didn't think this was as much a thing for motors with fly wheels. Thanks for taking the time to reply! 17083871599564540075537381950069
