Did they make this? If so does anyone have a pic or video.

holy mackinaw, look at that beast! Never knew this existed. Looks like MTH only made the prototype. Price was probably off the charts, most likely they could not get enough pre-orders to warrant putting it into production. That is a very cool engine. Exciting. I'm all about Standard Gauge tinplate and I've never even heard of this thing. Thank you!
You really should post this over in the Tinplate forum, everybody there would love to see this, and someone may have more info on it.
Oh geez. I'd buy one! THAT is cool! I never knew about that one.
Like the SP One Gauge Brass engine it never went into production, lack of sales.
Yes, my checkbook was out and idling for the Standard Gauge articulated; then it was
cancelled. I have seen it stated - true or not - that the Standard Gauge field is so dominated by Collectors that any new designs were or are greeted with a cold shoulder by many in that arena. If true, that is a shame, and it really left me non-plussed about
pursuing a little Standard fun; the idea of new Standard Gauge designs exited me far
more than the re-runs of re-runs of...
Back then, there was an article in one of the O-gauge magazines about a guy who built this loco and approached Mike Wolf about producing it; Mr. Wolf said yes, and it was announced. The scratch-bashed prototype in the photos was very well-done, and I
wanted one like it a whole bunch.
Fast forward to 2013: I spotted the loco in the background in one of the layout article photos 3 or 4 months back. Must be the guy. So it still exists, of course.
I forget which of the two O-mags had the article.
Mr Wolf: if you'd care to try again, I'm still eager...

I sure hope that's not the case now, as I'm new to Standard Gauge and -- with all due respects to the "collectors" -- I don't give a hoot about collecting original Standard Gauge trains. If price tags I've heard are even close to being accurate, the serious Standard Gauge "collectors" crowd lives in a world WAY beyond my means. And that's fine... more power to them. I'm more than content to run the modern-day Standard Gauge re-issues of popular trains along with the modern-day smoke, sound and command-control features.
As for new ideas and products that feature creative and new offerings, I'd be in 1,000%. Bring it all on.

not worth no 1000 to me...bet the reason why it did sell well because its so badly misproportion its not even funny..to small of wheels and engine should be longer..
A design "miscarriage" to be sure (small drivers, short wheel base) but an INTERESTING one!
Somewhere around 11-12 years ago at York I saw a Standard Gauge articulated locomotive that appeared to have been make by stretching a 400E boiler and adding a second Bild-a-Loco motor. It was a beautiful job, looked like factory. I believe it was a 4-4-4-4 but I cannot be 100% sure as I was not into Standard Gauge at that time. I think that might be more interesting as a production item than the never-built MTH loco described in the original post. I wouldn't mind having a go at building one myself, but I don't really think my skills are up to it. I might well be a buyer if MTH ever decided to build such a thing.
