I recently purchased a Premier Bierwagen/Reefer 22-94003. Catalog says it is made for O31. This derails on O 31 as well as O 27. There are only 2 wheels per truck. What is the fix for this? Also, can I swap out link couplers for knuckle couplers on this car?

22-94003 is a Bierwagen with fine-scale wheels made for track with 31 inch curves (O31 has a diameter of 31 Inches and a radius of 15.5 inches, so that is too small). So it will not run on O31. This car is not available with high rail wheels. Swapping out couplers is also not easy done.

Fred
Thank you, Fred. Some O gauge wheels allow it to run on O 27 but this was meant to be more of a display car with the other alcohol and tobacco cars on the shelf. I'm not going to worry about the couplers until I am ready to run a complete tinplate repro set with linky couplers. The MTH website states O Scale Kadee Compatible. Who knows what that means?
You can get beautiful Bierwagen trains from ETS trains with knuckle couplers and high rail wheels. They look and run great and you don't need huge curves. BigRail

Scale wheels do not track well on traditional O gauge tubular track in general. However, they work well on Atlas track and other track brands that mimic a realistic rail profile. So when you are buying an item, keep in mind that if the box says scale wheels, it won’t serve you well on your particular layout, based on what you have said already.
There’s plenty of information about converting couplers to Kadee scale versions on this forum. MTH makes it easier by creating a spot on the cars where you can install the draft gear box with a lot less effort.
