I love mine it was recommended to me by the guys here.

I can only imagine what your going thru trying to use the horn and bell buttons to get it to work.

I know that a lot of folks just want to run conventional but the fun and ease of use in these little gems is with DCS. Now would be a great time to give DCS a try
You won't be sorry I assure you.

The horn and bell were very hard for me to use. I finally gave up and ran my stuff as it was till my command set arrived.

I'll say this to you and all of those that don't use command . You just don't know what your missing.Once you try it you'll wonder why you didn't do it sooner
Hope you get her going.

Assuming you mean Horn then 4 Bells.

Different transformers can have different apparent button timing responses due to how they generate the Horn and Bell commands. Even changing the voltage can alter the responsiveness of Horn and Bell. But if you have another transformer you probably tried it too.

Presumably the Horn and Bell functions work cleanly meaning the Horn starts and stops consistently and never intermittently drops out as the button is pressed. And the Bell toggles on and off consistently on each Bell press. This is to insure the engine is getting a "clean" Horn and Bell command in the first place. Transformers can be flakey and/or other powered devices have been known to affect the Horn and Bell commands.

Are you successful with other commands of Horn then fewer than 4 Bells per the instructions? If so, can you activate a Reset with Horn + 5 Bells?
Another diagnostic idea. Is it practical to reverse the wiring between the transformer and track lock-on (xfmr red to lock-on black, and xfmr black to lock-on red so to speak)? Or perhaps just reverse connect to a short section of track and lock-on if more convenient?

If so, this would swap the Horn and Whistle button. The ability to blast short Horns, how long you must press Bell to turn it on/off, and general responsiveness should be the same as before except triggered with the opposite button.
