Cant get the Protocast or PFA announcements to work with my new engine and new DcS explorer.

Robert,
Protocast isn't supported by the DCS Explorer, however, PSA should work.
I factory reset the engine still couldn't get the PSA to function, does the train have to be running for a while to kick in? The only time I heard any stations was before I programmed the train and had it on the track with just my lionel transformer. Then I realized I didn't need that with the DCS.
Any tips on getting it to work or should I get a different remote or command system that will do all the functions.
I set the train in DCS MODE on the switch and 3 rail mode because I'm using Lionel Fastrack.
What is the engine's MTH product number (XX-XXXX-X)?
Exactly how are you trying to get the PFA sounds to happen? You must use the PFA key on the lower Engine Control Screen. The sounds don't happen by themselves.

I tried using that PFA on the lower screen. I mentioned in that other chat Barry. The DCS flashes but the engine wont play PFA eventhough its not grayed out.
Will the https://mthtrains.com/50-1033 work for me to play all the features. I really don't care about the app. I just want to utilize my engine to the full potential without buying the full system [tiu, wiu, remote]. I only have 1 mth engine.
Or will this https://mthtrains.com/50-1028 suffice?
Dave,
Honestly, I wouldn't recommend either of those products.
In a little while, I'll test to make sure that my DCS Explorer can trigger PFA sounds and I'll get back to you.
Thanks. Ill do a video of it when I get out of work.
What would you recommend to get all the functions that's not the full system or am I dreaming.

You need the full DCS system.
Unfortunately my month old DCS system lost the DCS signal on Variable 2 so back it has gone to MTH for warranty work. In the mean time my LHS is letting me try out a DCS explorer that someone got as part of a train set and returned (they purchased a Z1000 instead as they didn't have a smart phone). It works ok but to get the full suit of PS2/PS3 sound effects, and control over them and other functions, you need either the TIU and remote or TIU and WIU. That being said the full DCS isn't a bad investment. It runs all my locomotives, whether PS2, TMCC, or conventional from the DCS remote. It's great to be able to run whatever locomotive I want from the same remote.
As a side note since I'm been playing with the DCS Explorer and the free app I've come to find that the app is much less clunky and quicker to operate vs. the DCS remote. I think I may eventually pick up a WIU (after MTH fixes my TIU issue in 4-6 weeks ) and run everything from my smart phone or tablet.
If I got a TIU and WIU does it come with the basic app or do u need the upgraded App to get full functions?
PFA not working.

Robert,
If you have transit station announcements instead of plain vanilla PFA, you need a TIU and WIU (and the Premium version of the DCS App), or a TIU and DCS Remote, to make it work. You cannot do it with the explorer.
I have no pfas working it just let’s me click on them.
Barry,
did you have any luck with your pfas?

I thought I posted that I did.
Everything works perfectly. Your issue is almost certainly with your engine, most likely because the sound file has Transit Station Announcements rather than standard PFA.
