Has anyone else had their LCD display look something like this? Purchased the DCS system less than 2 years ago. Tried fresh batteries and scrolling on the system LCD display setting (as best I could read it) with no luck. It's never been dropped or exposed to extreme cold (I have read on other threads that this may affect the display), as we live in southern California. It functions, but I can't read the menu selection screens clearly. Appreciate any help or guidance to fix, short of purchasing a new one - thanks.

From what I understand mth no longer has parts for these remotes. if your lcd display is bad your done! if you have another that has other issues you could take the parts "screen" from other remotes if you can find one! I did have one that a small part of the display turned black but otherwise worked ok. u may have a connector issue where the LCD screen connects to another connector from the main remote board !
Have you tried to reinstall the software?

Thanks Alan - for the new good, and bad I guess.

Thanks - I guess we can try that, if it's not too complicated - what are the steps? Are there directions in the manual which came with the remote and TIU?
That looks a lot like the Zebra strip that connects the LCD to the circuitry has lost conductivity.

Thanks John. Is there a relatively easy fix that a non-electrical-circuit-person, like myself, to remedy this?
You'd first have to determine it that is the cause. If it comes back in basically the same pattern, it's certainly a possibility. You can also gently push on the display at various locations and see if the pattern of lines changes, that would further clarify the issue.
If the display failed it can be changed out. I did one or two a few years ago. All depends on if that part still available at MTH. G

Thanks all, for your replies and help.
Currently trying to find any remotes for sale, new or used, as my son is a frequent user of the remote.
Need your opinions - should we splurge and get the wifi. or stick with the remote? I kinda like using the remote since I have the other hand free. Seems to me that using one hand to hold a tablet/phone, and the other hand to press buttons takes away from watching your trains. In addition, you need to SEE your phone/remote in order to use functions - whereas I can watch the action AND control a remote since I know where the buttons are to active the functions I use the most (speed, bell, horn, smoke, etc.).
what are you thoughts - thanks.
Even though I don't have the wifi unit yet, it seems that is the future. Parts for the remote will continue to get harder and harder to obtain.
you can do what you like but I personally like the remote better, quite a few asc techs prefer the remote ! sometime you can find a used remote for sale and could possibly change your lcd display from another remote to fix yours! I would just change your display and the zebra strip at the same time!

I had a remote fail due to a collision with a concrete floor, and it was found that a connection had failed.

Got mine in Dec 2016. So I guess it was 3 years ago, you also could find them on the open market. G
If anyone finds a source, please let the rest of us know. The last time I looked, I had to buy a minimum of 100 pieces.
This is not a hard repair if you can get the part.
I'd love to get a couple of the display parts, but like all the others, I can't find any.
