I believe MTH produced some 40 or more different RK diecast billboard reefers . Does anyone know if some are worth more then others?
Thanks Joe

That’s a good question !
I have about 22 of these myself. One of which is a unusual yellow Baby Ruth reefer that came in 2-8-0 RTR all die cast set.
I also wish there was a comprehensive listing of all of the MTH grey box die cast offerings so I can figure out what I’m missing.

Thanks for the info. I do know there were far more diecast reefers then diecast boxcars. They weren't made long and most operators avoided them because they were heavy. Could be wrong but I think the entire diecast run of all rolling stock probably numbers less then 60- 70 cars.

Your correct...I do know that there were 14 boxcars. I have 12 of them...I’m missing the Wabash and the Railbox version.
Beside the reefers and boxcars there are tank cars and cabooses and hoppers and flats with loads...I have 2 separate sets of PRR and Lehigh Valley hoppers (6 car sets) that all have unique numbers.
Here is a very old YouTube video of a all die cast train...

I think diecast rolling stock from MTH has a few neat things going for it. MTH will soon be no more. Diecast RS was more expensive and part of normal production, not made as a instant collectable. The series was unique enough, colorful enough and especially limited enough to make all of it a very interesting collection.

I agree on all your points JC...they are unique and do not seem to garner much interest.
My rolling stock inventory is a mess but today I did count up what I do have in die cast and found I have 62 MTH die cast items.
I also researched and found out there are 17 box car unique items. Not 14...I’m missing 5 of those.
luckily in my checking out these items I found that none of these trains are showing any signs of zinc rot...yet !
