I have a new MTH 20-20507-1 GE Hybrid Evolution, that is out of warranty, that came with a detached drive gear on the front truck center axle. When power is applied, the motor will spin the center axle only. None of the gears will turn. The gear is not attached to the back side of the center. My question is, how are these gears fastened to the wheels. Are they just glued on and what type of glue should I use to reattach it?

Press fit on ribbed axle. If you need center drive axles let me know I have spares. Just axle and gears or with blind wheels.

Thanks Clem, if that's the case, the hole in the gear was made too large. I guess I'll try a little epoxy and see how it holds up. If it don't, I'll be purchasing a wheel puller and getting in touch with you for a gear. Where can I find a good wheel puller?
I have had one of those gears cracked, out of all the mth locomotives I have, Ill just send you the whole assembly, a drop in fix. If you have wide curves a two rail drive axle with wheels will work that is what I use.
Dave,
I think this picture will help. This is what you see after you pull off the bottom plate. (This one is a dummy unit, so no idler gears, but everything else is the same.) Keep an eye on the parts for the pickups so you can get them back into their proper configuration. There are no ups or downs to the bushings. Just drop the axle in, reinstall the plate, pickups, and motor, and you should be good to go!

Looks like an easy repair. I have a boat load of MTH dummy engines. I can just do a swap then, Right?
Yes
Unless the dummies don't have the brass drive gear.
No drive gear on the dummy axles, Address sent, Clem.
