MTH EL GP9 #20-21526-1 Mr Muffins Special Run

Very surprising. Not the usual configuration for a diesel, RK or Premier. Hopefully it’s a factory error, and not a new cost saving measure.😳

I pre ordered the same engine. I was hoping the lettering and the EL diamond on the long hood would be properly centered. Any photos I have seen of the GP9s in the early freight scheme, had the long hood lettering centered on the hood, reaching the louvers….

Tom, what do you have for pickup rollers??

As a point of continuing education, there are no dashes in EMD diesel model numbers. It is a “GP9” not a “GP-9”, regardless of what might be on the box.

RM, besides correcting me, do you have any idea on the more important issue regarding my $500.00 loco as posted?

Jeff, I don't have this loco but I think it's almost certainly a mistake.  I do have three RailKing GP7's and they all have pickups on both trucks.  In fact, every MTH RK or Premier powered unit I own has pickups on both trucks (about 40 engines).  I'm looking forward to what the answer is.

MikeH, I have to agree with you, I am waiting on Mr Muffins to get back to me on this. It must have been lunch time at the factory LOL!! I will post the answer when I get it.  Thanks everyone.

That is certainly not correct.

I inspected all of the new GP's we have here at the layout, including my custom run EL, and they have double rollers on each truck.
