A friend of mine just purchased a 30-20208-1

ES44AC Imperial Diesel Engine With Proto-Sound 3.0 Interstate ES44AC Imperial Diesel Engine With Proto-Sound 3.0 The ditch lights on the rear do not have bulbs or the wiring.

The
30-20170-1
ES44AC Imperial Diesel Engine With Proto-Sound 3.0 Southern ES44AC Imperial Diesel Engine With Proto-Sound 3.0 - Southern

does have operating rear ditch lights.

Does anyone know if this is correct for the Interstate?

I don't know the answer, sorry, but that Interstate ES44 is really a nice looking engine. There is a Premier version too. I wish you folks would stop posting pictures of them, I have been able to resist so far, but I am growing weaker with each new picture...

I couldn't resist the RS-3 in the Interstate livery, they got me on that one.

Hope someone can answer your question.

Edit after seeing Mr. Muffin's post: Mr. Muffin you are not helping my strength any here. In fact you are accelerating the weakening...

Lol. I did answer his question. The RailKing version does not have operating ditch lights on the rear. The Premier version does.

OK, now I'm confused. Both of those engines mentioned are RK Imperials, right ?

Listed by MTH as such anyway. Thus, shouldn't the features be identical for any MTH Imperial ES44AC.

I've just gotten the RK Imperial ES44AC in Central of Georgia paint (30-20207-1), and it has rear ditch lights, but non functional. Did I mistakenly understand that ALL

of MTH RK Imperial ES44AC's would have identical features, regardless of livery paint ?? OR, can the lighting features (in identical series of engines) be different

depending upon paint schemes ???

Let me clear this up.  I have the Interstate ES44AC, that NCT is referring to and a friend of mine has the Southern unit.  The Southern unit came in either late summer 2014 or early fall.  The engine does have operating ditch lights on the rear.  I talked to MTH at York and was told that the factory put the rear ditch lights in by mistake.  MTH stopped the factory from installing more.  I don't know how many are out there with operating rear ditch lights my friend may have the only one.  When you push the direction button on the hand held the backup light comes on but not the ditch lights.  The ditch lights don't come on until the engine starts to back up and they also flash when you operate the whistle button.  Pretty neat though.
