New engine only runs in reverse. Will not change direction! Using a MTH Z1000 control. It startups fine but just reverse direction. Any thoughts?

Hi Z1000 might not be compatible with ps 1 engines try a Z4000 and I'll be it works fine if not do a conventional reset bell n whistle!

You may have locked conventional direction while pressing bell and whistle buttons in a sequence that lined up to direction lock sequence.

Thank you! It worked. The bell and horn buttons are reversed on my Z1000 controller.

Then correct your wiring between track and your Z controller. (AKA reverse the 2 wires)
Red post goes to center 3rd rail, black to outer rails.
