MTH F-3 PS1 Engine runs, lights, horn, bell, sound. When I hold the bell button waiting for the exhaust sound the bell keeps ringing if I push the direction button engine stops I get exhaust sound but the bell keeps ringing. If I push direction button again it goes in reverse. It won't go into PFA program I did a factory reset with no change. Would you think I have a bad chip? Any suggestions?

What model number. Is it MTH System or a QSI system? Can't remember for the very very early stuff if they had PFA. The had limited features with the early stuff.
If it is suppose to have PFA it could be the chip, but it could be a board issue too not processing the bell signal fully. Only way to know is swapping chips to see. They need to be compatible years though. Early engines have slightly different software and do not necessarily function with later year boards. G
Early MTH engines '95/'96 ~ did not have a PFA sequence.
I believe this is a later version. the bottom board has plugs it's is not hardwired like the early boards. And differently not QSI .I'll try a chip. thanks for the response.
My bad. Bottom board is hardwired, & chip printed 1994 Please disregard previous post, I should have looked. If early boards have different software. Did they not have PFA?
Some did have PFA with early software. Some board hardware changes, along with software mods occurred. So some times the only way to get a specific early chip to work is with the correct early top board. But whether PFA or not was not related other than only very early not having that function.
The only other thing is MTH had a tech F-3 chip for testing boards and that only had the basics for testing motion and sounds if I remember correctly,
Do you have instructions with the engine? Should tell you. G
I found out it's a early board meg 2 chip , more than likely no PFA. Thanks for the help.
