Wow listen to that! Lionel sure seems to be falling behind in the sound dept.
And that horn! Nice job MTH, and great video as always Eric!

Lionels sound peaked in 2003 with the U30C’s and the GP30’s
So when is MTH going to issue another CONRAIL GP38? So far only the ps1 "Quality" and the Bicentennial units were done.
What happened to the "plane Jane can opener" scheme or even a can opener white stripe scheme?
Most other railroad paint schemes have been done two-three times over!

I've always said, MTHs best sounding engine is the GP38-2 the prime mover sounds fantastic on it. Need 2 in CSX and 1 in NS.
One of my favorite diesel locomotives. Can never have enough of them.
BTW, I run all my MTH PS-3 locomotives DCC on a 3R layout. Makes track wiring so much easier. And DCC costs less then DCS in the long run when it comes to upgrading locomotives to command.
The EMD 645 in a GP38-2 has a roots blower and should have a distinctive whine similar to earlier GP9’s. The sound file MTH selected for the GP38-2 sounds like a turbocharged 645 found in a GP40-2, i.e. it’s not accurate for this model.

And most like a ‘bark’ when going up between notches
I have five of them -- 3 in CNW; 2 in ATSF. Love them. I opted for the ones with scale wheels and fixed pilots and run them in 3-rail mode at the club.

I wonder the same thing. Conrail had 240+ on the roster. I’m almost resigned to having to have one or two custom painted.
The sounds are great, but that turbo needs removed! I got several 38's great engines overall. Love the horn. Wish MTH would start making dummies again.
