I have a Imperial J which I run in conventional mode. Thinking of changing the sound file to the Premier J sound file. Mainly to get the 4 chuff per revolution and better whistle. Has anyone else done this? Was told that the engine would run slower due to the smaller wheels. Thanks.
Rob
Hey Robert,
I did this to a PS3 Imperial Mallet and did not see any ill effect from swapping the sound file. The engine still showed in the DCS remote as a Mallet with the correct cab # which leads me to believe that that info in part of the chain file not the audio file. The chuffs/rev did change depending on the sound file I would load btw. Also you can change chuff rate in DCS with any sound file but the whistle will still be a reason to try the new file.
In any case, if you experience any issues you can simply load the original sound file and all will be back to stock, no harm no foul.
P.s. you need DCS to load the sound file to not sure how you plan on doing this if you have a conventional setup.
Hope this helps!
