I need to change a battery in my MTH Proto 2 steam engine but it's locked in this bracket solidly. Can't loosen it Is there a way to do this safely without braking something
The bracket is stiff, but flexible, so you should be able to pull up on the side to release the battery. In some cases the volume pot or charging port is in the way, necessitating removing the board to access the battery.
There is a lip on the battery holder that retains the battery. Once the battery is removed, I sometimes remove the lip, which is not necessary to retain the battery. Makes it easier install and access the battery next time, although I always install a BCR or BCR2.
