My MTH Santa Signal Caboose seems to have Santa hanging too far out from the train. He stops at a good spot and then just falls further to this position. He returns to his normal position with no problem. Is this normal or do I need to put a rope on him? See attached picture how close he comes to the next track when they are close together.

Too much eggnog.
He should be standing up straight just like the brakeman. You will have to determine what is allowing him to fall over like that. It has to be either the lever he is mounted on, or the attachment to his feet.
Thank you for the reply, I guess I'm going to have to pop the top. MTH electronics are sometime mind boggling to me but this seems so minor but no clue what could be causing him to fall over so far. This car is new to me, first time running it and I do remember on my first run he hit the side of my Styrofoam tunnel which might have jarred/broke something. Yikes, repairing/getting parts from MTH who is now out of business.
Don’t worry about the electronics, your problem is mechanical. Based on your “accident report” it is likely that the lever that supports Santa is damaged. The fix could be as simple as a dot of crazy glue.
As for MTH, they are still in business and shipping parts. I recently ordered some parts and received them in 9 days. The caveat is, if that have the part you need. They are using FedEx so be prepared for shipping sticker shock.
Thanks for the support Dan, I too was thinking/hoping it might be a simple crazy glue fix. However, my astute wife, ever the quilter, offered me some monofilament to tie from one of the side rails to the back rails, works like a charm so far! It's hardly visible and at a later date I might get some white chain like is used on the back rail to replace it if needed.
Also, very good to know MTH is still in business and shipping parts. Appreciate the heads-up on possible sticker shock.
