Im getting pre-order info up on the web tda.

These are really nicely detail cars.

Special runs Im considering....Rutland, Raritan River, Strasburg.    Raritan River and strasburg never had 2 bay hoppers, but ppl may want them regardless.

Raritan River did run sand trains. They actually used gondolas, which we did special runs of ywears ago.

Any comments or requests?    I need to let MTH know in a day or so. Will try to get some done in 2 rail too..

ALSO...just to let u all know...   Some of you met rachel back when we were doing train shows.    She recently entered the hospital with a serious infection. Out of the ICU now, but she'll be in the hospital for another week or so.    All hands on deck here.  Loved ones always before trains..but still Trying to get a few orders out a day.

Thanks...beth

Nickel Plate Road would be nice if someone else isn't doing them already

The strasburg cars would be interesting to see, but perhaps as one car or 2 cars sets - I don't know if there would be need for a 6 car of fantasy Strasburg hoppers

Clyde at Stockyard Express is doing a special run of MTH Premier NPR 3-bay hoppers. I'm not aware any dealer is doing a special run of NPR fishbellys.

Thx for all the input.

So far, I think im gonna do Rutland and Raritan River.   Rutland has been done before, but the rutland ppl tell me rutland hopper cars are hard to find.  Not cast in stone yet.  Im looking for shortlines and regionals that havent been done before, that are on the east coast or midwest.    I wish we sold more west coast stuff, but the # of ppl buying O gauge out this  is just too slim at least right now.

NYC and NKP , unfortunately, have just been done too many times.  I have NYC hoppers here in stock, and probably some NKP..  Maybe not fishbelly's, but to most ppl, a hopper car is a hopper car.

I did look at PRSL..  They had gray hopper cars with black lettering.   As much as I love PRSL, generally, gray hoppers dont sell.   Also PRSL not known for their freight car fleet, as it was next to non-existant. They just used freight cars from the owner roads...PRR and Reading.   I could do a ficticious PRSL hopper (relettered from PRR) .  It would be an oxide red PRR GL hopper , with PRSL instead of Pennsylvania.

Any thoughts?

Thx...beth

I’ll take as many of the Rutland #s as you can do. Anyway to do road #s not done before by atlas of Lionel?

But I love the prsl idea too. A lot of prsl fantasy rolling stock has been made, but they're hard to find and go for a killing. Not to mention they’re all semi scale. Some scale prsl rolling stock would be terrific

Will most likely do Raritan.  Just as RRRR had ex-PRR GRa gondolas for hauling sand, these will be ex-PRR GL hoppers in oxide red, with the "Pennsylvania" replaced by Raritan River.  Thats what they did on the GRa gonds, so its totally in keeping with reality.    Might do the same thing with PRSL...as that would be in keeping with reality also.   Nothing crazy or way out there...

Beth,

The Rutland fans are correct, aside from the boxcars any scale Rutland equipment in the O scale market is very hard to find. I would very interested in ordering some Rutland hoppers and I think you should go for it! Having a mostly New England themed collection I would love to have some more Rutland equipment. Sorry to hear the news about Rachel and I wish her a safe and healthy recovery!

Peter

Beth,

How about a run of Lehigh and New England hoppers. Example scheme is in the collection of the RR Museum of PA in Strasburg. There is a photo of the recently painted hopper on their website https://www.rrmuseumpa.org/our-trains . I don't believe I can post the photo here. Also, not sure the LNE ever rostered fish belly hoppers, however, the scheme presented by the museum, although black and white, is appealing.

I would be interested in a 6 car set.

I would be interested in PRSL hoppers done the way you described.

Beth,

First I apologize for being slightly off topic. Even though I am a big MTH fan I am considering not buying any more MTH. This is because I am a 2 rail guy and the MTH 2 rail trucks have been out of production for years. True, there are other ways of converting a MTH car to 2 rail but when you have a lot of them to do the easiest way with the least amount of labor is to use MTH trucks. Is there any news that someday MTH will produce these trucks again?

Your thoughts on the Raritan River hoppers sound good. Even with the truck issues I will buy one, maybe two.

We have  MTH 2 rail trucks in stock, and will request these cars to be made in 2 rail and 3 rail.   MTH has been making 2 rail trucks for Atlas former MTH cars.    MTH just hasnt ordered any for their own stock.

Well that would be awesome to get the cars in 2 rail from the factory! I hope they do it.  Last time I looked I couldn't find the trucks on your website. I just checked and you are correct of course. They are there. Thank you very much.
