Hello all,

I am new to MTH and want to buy some used PS2 engines. Please advise what can be considered slightly used and like new considering odometer and chronometer readings.  Would a chronometer reading of 130 and a odometer reading of 360 be considered like new or a lot of hours? What would be considered lot of hours and lot of chronometer reading to be classified well used. Is it ok to buy a unit that was well taken care of yet has a lot of miles and hours? Really appreciate your help  in advising what to look for in a used PS2 engine.

Thank you very very much, Jerry

Have purchased many used MTH engines. Since the hours accrue when on powered track even if the engine is "asleep" a lot of them have way more hours than miles. Guessing our purchased new ones exhibit the same ratio of more hours than miles because of slow running and stopping etc. Have friends with MTH trains nearing 10,000 miles that are still running fine! Just normal lube and maintenance is all that's needed. And all the high mileage ones are Proto2, that's all they own.
