I am looking to buy an MTH Premier 4-8-8-2 Cab Forward (20-3125-1 or similar) but I need help determining the wheelbase to see if it will fit on my 28" turntable.

MTH says it's 30.75" long but I guess that's over the couplers and all the photos I've seen indicate a front and rear overhang that looks to be 1.5" or more.

Can anyone who has one of these locomotives let me know the actual wheelbase length?

Thanks for your help

My PS-1 scale AC-6 measures 27 7/8"  (actually a wee bit less) from front axle to last axle on tender. This is sitting level, straight and stretched on a table. From front scale coupler

to tender O-coupler is 31 1/8".

The drawbar could be shortened/replaced/re-drilled to make the length a bit less

(1/4" - 1/2" I'd say) - and look better, too - if your curves could take it. Easy change.

I also built my turntable (32" I seem to recall...) to accommodate my biggest loco's wheelbase. It's SP also: the Lionel AC-9 2-8-8-4. If it fits, it fits - but getting to stop just right can take a couple of tries.
