Hi folks, finally going to get my MTH Premiere Hudson back. The guy sent a video of it after being repaired. However, I noticed its marker lights weren't lit. If possible can I replace them or leave them be? when the other repairman put in the PS3, it came with red lights. all I saw on the video was one red light on the tender.

Marker lights are on the tender, class lights are on the front of the locomotive for a steam locomotive with tender. Are you wanting the locomotive to be correct as delivered by MTH?…if so, they installed green class lights at the front of the locomotive. If you’d like to follow NYC practice, you can have either no class lights illuminated, green lights or clear or white lights ( dependent on the number of segments added to a scheduled train)

I believe the MTH PS1 engine was delivered with red class LEDs. Not sure 2mm green LEDs were available when these were made. If it was upgraded using a PS3 kit, then there is no way to turn the class lights on and off unless they are paralleled with the headlight. Later PS2 engines had a mux board for this. LEDs can be swapped out for green and a small 5v board can be added for these and cab light if equipped.
One more note. 2mm ceramic LEDs of any color used for a couple of decades on our engines are not being made any more. Some stock exists so its best to pick some up if you can find them. You may find wired LED chips that do fit though.

FWIW, most class (loco) and marker (tender) were un-lit most of the time in the real world. They all had meanings based on color and whether lit or not. Dark was the default.
Me, I often unplug mine as I don't care for the "decorated" look.
Ok Guys thanks. I think I'm going to do like D500 said. Plus buy some jewels. In the event I get a freight loco, do it also with jewels.
Take care.

Oh by the way those lights did come on at the store where I picked it up from being repaired. It ran super good. But when I got it home, I set it on a 3' section of track just to listen to it and the only thing the Z1000 did was show me the class light glowing red no sounds. So I decided to buy a Z4000. I think the Z1000 is shot.

I'm curious how you figure the Z1000 is shot from that test. I'd suggest a more definitive test if it were me. Try running something else with the Z1000, the fact that the class lights came on at all suggests you should have power coming from the Z1000.
Yep I know John problem is I have nothing else to run. Loco was doing fine at the store but when I set it up here those lights came on no sound except a kind of a "whrrrr" in the tender. I then shut it off. I adjusted the volume before I set it on the track. I can take the Z1000 to a nearby museum which does run a O scale layout.
Take care.
I'd first try it in a different location as you indicate, but it sounds like something went wrong.
John The Z1000 at the store where I had this loco fixed at ran it fine along with their DCS system. when I got home, I set it on a section of track to listen to it, but the Z wouldn't do anything. I'm going to try it again, maybe I've done something wrong who knows.
