I may have missed it but are these boards when available direct substitutions for PS2 boards. Also do they come with instructions? The question is raised because I have another of PS2 engines and based on the discussions the PS2 boards will blow eventually.  I rather have a couple in stock so I can fix the engines or send them to a repair technician with the part.

Right now the MTH PS32 boards are not available, there's no timetable when they'll be back in stock.  There are two varieties with the difference being the type of connectors, one for 5V board replacements and one for 3V board replacements.

This is the common bottom board, that's used for both types.

Here are the two "stacker" boards that sit on top of the board above to interface with the existing wiring in the PS/2 locomotive.

 

There are some other considerations in replacing the boards, but it's a fairly simple swap as a rule.
