I've had this problem for some time now, thinking it was a loss of ground that was stalling the PS3 GP9
with 2 rail 3 rail trucks on some of my older Gargraves turnouts.
But using a feeler gauge, I found that the roller pickups were bottoming out.
To solve this issue, I replaced the pickups with MTH part # BD-097 roller pickups that have smaller
diameter rollers.
Works like a charm!
Just thought I'd pass this along to the knowledge base.

Glad they worked for you. I've had to go to the smaller rollers on two MTH RK Scale engines because they bottomed out going over GG uncoupling tracks. Not sure why MTH just doesn't use these rollers in the first place.

I had an engine that had rollers bottoming out. I don't recall the make. It was causing a short but no derailments.
I jput some electrical insulating tape on the bottom of the shell where the roller was touching. It has worked so far.
