What is your item number?

That is where I was going Ralph. On the magnet, it does not deteriorate but the plating on it does and it causes problems. That is a 5 volt board. Change the speaker and you should score. I see many of these each month.
Nick, if you have a white battery in your engine, get rid of it and put in a fresh MTH battery.
Hey guys,
I am actually experiencing the same problem with the Q-2. Just out of curiosity, how do I check the speaker to make sure everything is working? Anything in-particular to look for?
Thanks so much,
Greg
Also like Marty said if you the white battery change it.

Ralph,
Thanks so much! Will look at it tomorrow and see what I find.
Thanks again,
Greg
My Q2 sound has also deteriorated; looks like an issue with this engine.
Should we just buy another MTH replacement, or is there a better one to use.
Thanks
The new speakers from MTH are fine and won't deteriorate.
Ralph
I have seen many of these over the past few years.
I'm pretty sure I put a brand new battery in it before shipping I'm betting it is the speaker. Check for flaking around the speaker magnet.
